I was all ready to write my blog today on my fully restored computer.
It had had a very bad virus and I had to take it to the doctor (Staples).

For those of you who don't know, Staples has a tech department, and they can fix computers.
Mine was in really bad shape and had to be completely wiped and have the operating system reloaded.
It was at the doctor for a full week
and the damn thing doesn't have health insurance.......

Sooooo.....
first they had to back up all my files onto a hard drive........
I use Carbonite for online back up, but it's much faster to use an external hard drive.
oy!!!!
I almost sound like I know what I'm talkin' about!!!!!
Any who....
Then they had to reinstall my operating system.
Sooooo...
I get the machine home, and turn it on, and WHAT?????
Some weird screen shows up, not the one I'm used to.
I freak out!!!!!
I forgot that they had backed up everything on the little hard drive I bought.
I thought everything had been lost.
All my files had disappeared.
I was looking at a foreign desk top.
Weird things were in the dock.
I WAS NOT HAPPY.

I WAS VERY SCARED!!!!!

I called Staples, having a leetle meltdown.....
The main tech guy was on a house call.....
I had to be a big girl and wait.....
I DON'T WANT TO BE A BIG GIRL!!!!!
Sooooooo.....
I decided I would see if I could figure it out all by myself.
All alone.
No young kids to help this old bidddy out......
AND I FIGURED IT OUT!!!!!
Soooooo....
yesterday I spent around 6 hours reloading all my files and re-down loading all my programs.
Not Fun!!!!!
Soooooo.....
today I was all ready to resume my writing on my trusty old Dell.
I've been using a little Apple Mac laptop that I got my Mom, only she didn't like it, so now it's my back up computer.
Any who.....
Before I spent some more time on the World Wide Web, I checked that Staples had loaded the anti-virus software they sold me.
According to them.....
It is da bomb, and will protect my poor machine.
I wanted to be very careful.
I wanted to be sure I was protected from the evil idiots who think up these viruses....
I MEAN.....
WHO ARE THESE GUYS...SITTING IN SOME DINGY ROOM SOMEWHERE.....DESIGNING VIRUSES TO MESS UP MY DAY?????
Sooooo.....
I looked for the security software that was supposed to be installed on my computer.
And I looked.
And I looked.
Couldn't find it.
I was a little scared to call Staples after my false alarm yesterday.
BUT I COULN'T FIND THE VIRUS PROTECTION THINGY!!!!!
So I called Staples.
Jim, the head tech said "It's in the lower right side of the computer screen. In the Dock."
And I said "I don't see nothin'"
And Jim said "Hmmmm, that's strange. You better bring it back so I can check it out."
And I said "You gotta be kidding me, you've had my computer for a week, and now I need to bring it back?????"
And Jim said " Sorry, but yes."
So I said "I'll see you in 10 minutes."
Sooooooo.....
this is not how I wanted to spend my Sunday.
I went back to Staples, and Jim (Whose very nice...), turned on my little laptop, and
SURE ENOUGH.....the software hadn't been installed.
I HAD REPEATEDLY CHECKED THAT THEY WERE INSTALLING THIS NEW VIRUS PROTECTION...
AND I WAS REPEATEDLY  REASSURED THAT IT HAD BEEN INSTALLED!!!!!
WELL IT HADN'T.....
Soooooo.....
I asked " how long will this take?????"
And Jim said "One hour."
And I said "ONE HOUR!!!!!?????"
And Jim said "Sorry, but yes."
Sooooo.....
I left my poor machine back at Staples and went for a long walk around the pond where I live.
1.5 hours later, I called Staples and asked Jim "Is my computer ready yet????"
And Jim said "No"
And I said "WHAT????"
And Jim said "None of the Windows updates had been installed when they started up my computer after restoring the  operating system, and there were
ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-FIVE
updates that needed to be installed before they could install the security software."
And I said "WHAT???? THIS WILL TAKE HOURS!!!"
And Jim said "Sorry, but yes."
And I said "Wasn't that supposed to already be done?????"
OK, all together now.....
And Jim said "Sorry, but yes."
Sooooo....
while I am waiting for my poor old Dell computer to be returned to my loving arms,
I am writing to you guys on my little tiny apple laptop.
Soooooo....
that's my tale of woe.

Next post we be back to decoratin' after I get my Dell back with all my pictures.
But....
I didn't want to go too long without a post, as the natives might get restless.....
On that note,
