HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!

Yes, I am still here, and I haven't dropped from the face of the earth yet, but like everyone, I got extra busy with all the holiday hoopla - you know, visitors galore, my baby's 1st christmas, and just cooking and planning up a storm, and oh yeah, a huge out- of town  trip too with the entire Criste clan!

Anyway, hopefully, I can start back-reading all the good stuff from you that I missed and hopefully too, shell out some stuff for my blog!

So let me start this New Year by sharing with you the Calendar I love at the moment...

If your not familiar with this calendar yet, this is the Stendig Calendar.

And I quote their website in describing it as ...

This beautiful and exquisitely produced calendar was designed in 1966 by Massimo Vignelli and taken that year into the Design collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.  After 48 years, a design from the sixties endures as an example of excellence in modern graphic design and is most appropriate for vintage or 21st Century distinguished homes and business environments.

And I agree when people say it's more than a calendar, its a work of art on it's own....

I think I first saw this at Crate and Barrel years ago when I was still in residency.
We didn't have the space or the money (at least for this calendar) at that time and just admired this thing from afar.

I really love it's simplicity and finally last 2013, I was ready to get one for 2014!!!

But it wasn't meant to be....

I started my search in November, and by that time, it was all out of stock everywhere except on EBAY where people were selling it for $200+++ + shipping!!!! Ridiculous!

So last 2013 I emailed the Stendigcalender website and they politely replied they will email me as soon as the 2015 one was available. And true to their word, they did.

I ordered mine right away !!!!!!

My beloved Stendig
I tell you, it is HUGE! Of course I didn't check the size all that well, I just knew I wanted it and didn't think of where to put it! hahaha! I'm just following the age old adage - "buy what you like and you'll find a spot for it, eventually!". ;-)

Back door hallway - Yup, our Umbrella stand has a Light saber, a foam sword and a tennis racket in it!
Of course, this was the only wall I could put it in, since I barely have any more empty walls in our kitchen and living room (I think that's a good thing right?!).

I still need to figure out what to do with the bottom wall - a mail sorter? hooks? chalkboard? any suggestions? Anyhow, I am happy, plus this calendar would not go to waste for sure since I've found some interesting ways to up-cycle old pages...

Backdrop for Modern Monthly photos for baby

Wrap boxes with them

Maybe I can do some origami wreath?
A window or door cover perhaps?

And I even saw someone who loved the Stendig Calendar so much, she actually made a quilt of it!

Now that's what I call "Utter Devotion" ;-)

It's still available right now, on clearance at CRATE & BARREL if your interested!
I'm sure we won't be mistaking our dates anytime soon!

Have a Great Week!
