We recently celebrated our son's 8th Birthday with a Dr. Seuss-themed birthday party.

I couldn't have been more excited because aside from the fact that my son loves his books, I too, am a HUGE FAN!

Like Christmas, and every other thing I do, I GO CRAZY decorating for parties too and try make it as memorable and special to the celebrant and to the guests as well.

As they say the "Devil is in the details", so be prepared for a lot of them here...

Let's start of with THE DECORATIONS

I placed a lot of paper lanterns and banners around the cake table and food area
"Happy Birthday" clingy letters were from PARTY CITY - Cat and book were from
Oriental Trading

GIFT WRAP was my best friend and i just rolled them down the blank walls!
Cheap, easy and no mess (stuck them to the ceiling edges so my walls would be safe from tape)

Wrapped our movie posters in fabric and gift wrap, added balloons too!

Gift wrap went on the tables too as runners

More banner close-up

The best part about these banners? GOODWILL find for 49 cents!

READY TO PARTE-Y!
Cute centerpiece - 38 cents fish + dollar tree bowls

My THING 2, proud with the cat!
(got Cat from ORIENTAL TRADING TOO)

THE CAKE TABLE

Happy as a can be!

Candy Buffet

Placed his books atop and added LOTS of Candies in blue and red color!

From twizzlers to blue sixlets and my fave, DOVE chocolates, they all added up to make this yummy vignette!

How I made the pompoms, courtesy of Kelly from Eclectically Vintage.com - THANKS!

The cake was made by a friend of mine, isn't it gorgeous?! But what's more important is that
this cake is not only cute, it is even oh-so-yummy!!!! Nothing beats home-made!!! Thank you AILEEN!

THE KIDDIE FOOD STATION

We already had the popcorn machine in the basement so I just BORROWED the other stuff!

Hotdog machine from the NARAGS- THANK YOU!
Love this thing, I ordered our own after the party!

Cotton Candy Machine from the PINEDAS - THANK YOU!
This by the way, is a super hit and thinking of getting our own soon!

We also had pizza for the kiddos. With the number of kids and guests we had, the FOOD WAS GONE, after the party! Yey!

THE DRINKS

I got the labels from QT party designs in ETSY
I used Mott's apple juice and BLUE Hawaian Punch for the drinks and they were the perfect size!
Here was the DRINK STATION at the party.

The banner was from last year - has all the characters so re-usable every year. :-)

Got the striped stickers from HOBBY LOBBY
on clearance for 79 cents.

Straws from Etsy too, cups from Walmart
Stickers were a big friend to me during this preparation. I used them to match the theme of the party on almost everything! Like the Dollar store plastic napkin holder ! I got the stickers from ORIENTAL TRADING, $2 for 4 sheets that went a looong way!

THE GIVE-AWAYS

Got the bags on CLEARANCE at TARGET months ago (80 cents for 8!), added stickers - of course. :-)

Had my son sign his name and I filled up these certificates $3.50/36 pcs. from Oriental Trading!

THE GAME PRIZES

Striped paper bags (also used for popcorn) from TJ maxx

  1. Gorgeous would be a smaller word to describe the party preparations. Never seen such perfect arrangements. Will refer this share to my friend for an exciting day at her sister's baby shower. Had a telephonic conversation with her regarding venues in Chicago to be hired. And also her ideas of gift wraps, balloons, roll on and DIY posters.
